Erbium:YAG 2940 Skin Resurfacing (Micro Laser Peel)
Erbium:YAG 2940 nm resurfacing precisely removes the outer layers of damaged skin to smooth texture and soften lines while stimulating new collagen. This wavelength is highly absorbed by water in the skin, allowing effective resurfacing with less heat spread and typically shorter downtime than traditional CO₂ lasers.
Helps with: fine lines and wrinkles, rough texture, enlarged pores, sun damage, and certain acne scars on the face, neck, chest, and hands.
Benefits: refined texture, improved tone, softening of etched lines, and an overall fresher skin appearance.
Downtime:
-
Light/fractional: redness and flaking over about 2–5 days.
-
Deeper/full-field: oozing and redness for 1–2 days, then pinkness and peeling as new skin forms over about 5–7+ days.
Typical plan: often 1 deeper session or 2–4 lighter sessions depending on goals and schedule.
Erbium resurfacing precisely removes damaged outer skin layers to smooth lines, refine texture, and improve overall tone.
Pre-care
-
Avoid ALL sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before, and stop self-tanners for 2 weeks before.
-
Discontinue retinoids, glycolic/salicylic acids, and other irritants for at least 7 days before treatment.
-
A minimum of 2 weeks must pass after any cosmetic treatments (botox, facial and body waxing, filler or chemical peels) before receiving this treatment.
-
Discuss any history of cold sores; antiviral medication may be recommended for peri-oral treatments.
-
Arrive at your appointment well-hydrated, with clean product free skin.
-
Plan for social downtime—light treatments may require several days; deeper sessions can mean up to 7–10+ days of visible redness and peeling.
What To Expect
-
You’ll feel heat and a stinging sensation during treatment; numbing and cooling are used for comfort.
-
Immediately after, the skin can look very red and feel hot or sunburned; there may be mild oozing with deeper passes.
-
Over the next several days, the outer skin will crust or peel, revealing smoother, pink new skin underneath. No picking or exfoliating the shedding skin.
-
Pinkness can persist for days to weeks depending on treatment depth, gradually fading as the skin heals and remodels.
Post-care
-
Cleanse gently with a mild cleanser 1–2 times daily and pat dry; avoid scrubbing and hot water.
-
Keep the skin continuously moisturized with a semi-occlusive ointment or post-procedure cream until re-epithelialized (about days 3–5 for many patients).
-
Avoid retinoids, acids, scrubs, and makeup until the skin is intact and non-irritated (often 5–10 days).
-
Strictly avoid sun; use mineral SPF 30+ and protective clothing once you’re cleared to apply sunscreen.
-
Most people can resume normal routines around 48 hours post-treatment, but this can vary.
-
Most clients will notice smoother, brighter skin at 7-10 days, with continued improvement over 4-6 weeks.
-
The number of treatments will depend on your skin goals. Many clients will see benefits after only one treatment, while others benefit from a series of 2-3 treatments scheduled 8 weeks apart.
